Slightly different to our usual shoots this one! We were asked by online-poker giant PKR to cover the BAMMA 5 cage fighting event at Manchester’s MEN arena. Equipped with access-all-area passes, we got down to documenting the whole show though focusing mainly on PKR’s involvement and sponsorship. It was awesome, though pretty gruesome at times, with some truly brutal bouts.

We were recently approached by the management of retro-electro duo Futurecop, to shoot some publicity stills for upcoming magazine features.

It’s been an incredibly busy year at High Contrast, with a wealth of new projects, new clients and new opportunities. We’ve enjoyed consistent growth, expanding our team of photographers, stylists, retouchers and assistants and gearing towards a brand new office space for the start of 2011.

We’re looking forward to getting back and buckling down to another year of non-stop shooting in 2011. Until then we’ll be enjoying some well-earned indulgence in the form of food, drink and fine company.

We were asked by the Danish magazine ‘Food Culture’ to document the work of the respected green-keepers of the Royal Liverpool Golf Club. The course is situated amongst the rugged scenery of Hoylake on the Wirral. The magazine wanted the pictures to capture a sense of the harsh conditions experienced at the golf club throughout the winter months. Unfortunately, it proved difficult to document anything for a week or so, as the course lay under a thick layer of snow. Luckily we eventually managed to get to the location during a break in the arctic conditions and got some great shots.

At the start of November we shot Bentley designer Jakob Annermalm for Private Banking Magazine. Jakob worked on the new Bentley Continental GT, so we were asked to venture down Bentley’s HQ to get some shots of him alongside this beautiful feat of automotive design. Thought we didn’t have long to shoot with Jakob, we managed to get quite a wide range of shots and the client was delighted with the results.

High Contrast are participating in an online experimental art project called Facity International, and are offering anyone the chance to have their picture taken and be submitted to the project. Male or female, young our old, everyone is welcome to participate!

We only require about 10-15 mins of the participant’s time and for them to visit our office in West Didsbury, Manchester.

The final image will be submitted to Facity, our Facebook page, our own website and possibly a local exhibition. This is a great opportunity to meet us and get yourself noticed among the international fashion and photography communities. Participation is completely free and you will receive a medium-res digital copy of your chosen image.
